Eugene Lee has been hired as the new Executive Director, Investments, for the UBC Faculty Pension Plan (FPP), joining the UBC Pension Administration Office in January 2026.
Eugene comes to us with over 20 years of experience working with pensions, endowments, foundations and Indigenous settlement trusts. Prior to joining UBC, he served for 10 years with the Vancouver Foundation as Vice President, Investments. He also served for three years at PBI Actuarial Consultants and for 14 years at RBC Investor and Treasury Services, working with plan sponsors to develop investment policies and governance guidelines, as well as conducting manager research, performance monitoring and strategic asset mix analysis. Eugene is an avid cycle commuter and is very active in the community, currently volunteering on the boards and investment committees for six not-for-profit organizations. The FPP Board of Trustees would like to welcome Eugene to the FPP leadership team.
Kamila Giesbrecht previously held the role of Executive Director, Investments, leaving UBC in August 2025 to pursue another career path. Kamila helped lead the UBC FPP through the COVID-19 pandemic with a steady hand, focusing on long-term resilience during unprecedented levels of global market volatility. She also helped lead the launch of the UBC Fossil Fuel Free Equity and Bond Fund, develop a new strategic asset mix for the UBC Balanced Fund, and support the ongoing assessment and enhancement of investment options and educational resources for members. The FPP Board of Trustees would like to thank Kamila for her five years of contributions to the Plan and wish her the best in her new endeavours.
